From our lovely friend Claire, the farmer behind “A Complete Cow” these soaps are made in small batches and are 70% beef tallow.

Scented with natural essential oil blends and coloured with botanical infusions and clays, these beautiful, functional soaps are cleaning powerhouses with a fantastic lather.

Suitable for all skin types, particularly sensitive and dry skin types, there are four wonderful varieties to choose from:

A Complete Lemon: Lemongrass, Eucalyptus and Bergamot

When Claire was developing the soap she played around with varying percentages of Tallow and felt 70% beef tallow hit that sweet spot between a great lather and solid staying power so it won’t turn to mush after a week of use or crack. The addition of natural clays and corn silk ensures this and makes up less than 2% of the overall weight of the bar.

We love our soaps and they last for ages! My fav is the rose scented. Lovely creamy lather, feels like a real treat!

Wish ingredients were listed on the site

Based on the description, I was expecting beef tallow soap scented with essential oils, but the ingredients on the package I received are beef tallow, a couple of vegetable oils, and fragrance, rather than essential oils. I found the scent to be VERY intense, like a supermarket soap. I’m a bit skeptical that it’s really Lemongrass, Eucalyptus and Bergamot essential oil as all three of these are very distinctive. It seems decent to use but the smell is difficult to live with and I’d prefer a soap that’s just beef tallow, they do exist and it’s how tallow soaps were traditionally made.

I would recommend listing the full ingredients on your website as I would not have bought the product had I seen the full list.

Hi Chris, thanks so much for your feedback. We are a small, evolving business, so it is great to know where we can improve. The soap is scented only with essential oils but you are quite right the Complete Lemon does pack a punch that some people love and others can find a bit much! We will endeavour to put this in the description so people know. The other scents are not nearly as pungent 😀

The soap is 70% Beef Tallow. When we were developing them we played around with varying percentages of Tallow and we felt 70% hit that sweet spot between a great lather and solid staying power so it won’t turn to mush after a week of use, nor crack and go brown like the soaps of old. It was also really important to us to produce an incredibly high quality product that looked great, felt great, smelled delicious and lathered up in a satisfying way. The addition of natural clays and corn silk ensures this and makes up less than 2% of the overall weight of the bar. We use the traditional cold process method of soap making to try and stay as true as possible to the old school ways!

Thanks to your feedback we are changing our packaging to make the tallow percentage clearer and we are also developing a 100% Tallow bar for people that would prefer that.

It is a very high-quality product, but I was expecting a mostly tallow based product rather than something that has tallow on an extensive ingredients list.
