What's in the 2nd March boxes?

What's in the 2nd March boxes?

This week things are starting to look up! We have some blue skies and the tidying up of the Pirinoa market garden is underway. With all the wet weather, things had got a bit out of control. We have been busy pruning all the wild plants and giving everything a good layer of mulch. It feels wonderful to start to have the garden looking tidier & healthier again.

This week the produce available is:

lettuce

sprouting broccoli

potatoes

green peppers

baby spring onions

kamo kamo

pak choi

carrots

cucumbers

courgettes

cherry tomatoes

round tomatoes

chard/kale/dandelion/sorrel (leafy greens)

leek

borlotti shell beans

buttercup squash

watercress

apples

pears

The type of box you order will determine the quantity and variety you receive. The regular farm boxes will have the greatest variety, with the larger sizes having multiples of the same vegetables (e.g. a Little Box might have 2 cucumber, whereas a Whanau box might have 4 cucumbers). The Mama boxes (discounted seconds) have less variety (as not all types of veggies will have seconds every week) but provide more value.

Due to our farms being local, small scale and seasonal, there is a chance that not every box will have the same mix of vegetables, but we ensure every box has the same value of vegetables in it.

Thanks for understanding.
